The Virginia Society of Eye Physicians & Surgeons' President Invites You to Join Us

 

Dear Colleague:

Please accept this personal invitation to join the Virginia Society of Eye Physicians & Surgeons. VSEPS is a state level non-profit organization whose mission is to advocate the best quality eye care for all Virginians through education, legislative efforts and community service. The Society acts to aid and assist members in their relations with patients, hospitals, medical institutions, governmental agencies and all other groups related to the practice of ophthalmology.

The Virginia Society of Eye Physicians & Surgeons (VSEPS) undertakes programs to:

  • Protect your practice from unlicensed practitioners
  • Work to reduce practice costs through better regulations and legislation
  • Provide you with practice management, managed care, and coding information to accurately run your business
  • Work to raise the image of ophthalmologists to enhance and protect your patient base

Who Can Join?
Membership is open to ophthalmologists who possess a certificate from or be eligible to take an examination of the American Board of Ophthalmology, and are licensed to practice Medicine and Surgery in Virginia or in a reciprocal state, in lieu of Virginia licensure. Membership is also open to Members-in-Training and Student Members, those fellow and resident physicians or students of medicine at a recognized program of the American College of Medical Examiners or of the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Benefits to Membership
The Virginia Society of Eye Physicians & Surgeons (VSEPS) acts to aid and assist members in their relations with patients, hospitals, medical institutions, governmental agencies, and all other groups related to the practice of ophthalmology. The programs and services offered by VSEPS include:

  • OMIC Cooperative Venture Discount – 10% to VSEPS members who attend the annual meeting, OMIC risk management course.
  • Health Plan Relations Committee - to represent eye care in the myriad of insurance issues.
  • Legislative Advocacy - to ensure that the concerns of quality medical eye care are addressed in the legislature and the regulatory boards.
  • Practice Management and Coding Seminars - to educate you about the business side of practicing medicine.
  • Newsletter - to keep you up-do-date on VSEPS activities and issues impacting your practice.
  • Coding Advice and Support Program - to provide members with free consulting assistance for problems or questions they encounter relating to third party payor matters.
  • Member Discounts - to offer exclusive benefits to members, including VSEPS Meeting Registration Fee Discounts, and more.
  • Media and Public Service Contacts - to serve as an informational resource about ophthalmology to the Virginia media and to other related public and medical organizations.
  • Liaison with the American Academy of Ophthalmology and other Medical Organizations - to gain a collective voice in development of policy and programs with the medical community
  • Education and Scientific activities - to provide an Annual Meeting for continuing medical education.
  • Public Service Projects - The Diabetes Initiative and Glaucoma Project.
  • VSEPS Website www.vaeyemd.org - to provide members with current society news and alerts, and medical eye health care information for the general public.

VSEPS works hard for all of our interests.  We need your assistance. We want you involved.  The expense of yearly dues is minimal and creates great value for you and your practice.   The cost of not being involved is severe.  Please join your colleagues in building a brighter future for Ophthalmology in Virginia.
