UVA hosts Humphries Ophthalmology Symposium
VSEPS collaborated with University of Virginia's 38th annual Marion K. Humphries, Jr. Ophthalmology Symposium. Named in honor of UVA's first ophthalmology chairman, the program was held September 15-16, 2023, at the Charlottesville Omni Hotel. The program featured continuing education for physicians and ophthalmic technicians.
UVA kicked off the symposium with a cocktail reception and grand opening of the state-of-the-art Steven A. Newman Surgical Skills Lab (SANSS Lab). The lab will help residents hone their surgical skills. The lab is named in honor of Steve Newman, emeritus professor of neuroophthalmology.
Saturday's symposium featured Hans E. Grossniklaus, MD, MBA, Professor of Ophthalmology and Pathology at Emory Eye Center and Thomas V Johnson, III, MD, PhD, Shelley and Allan Holt Rising Professor of Ophthalmology, Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins. Other presenters included Drs. Bruce Carter, Jessica Randolph, Adam Lipman, and Peter Netland, among others.
The next Humphries Symposium will be Saturday, September 21, 2024, in Charlottesville.
