VSEPS-NVAO Join Forces
The Virginia Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons (VSEPS) and the Northern Virginia Academy of Ophthalmology (NVAO) have entered into a new strategic affilation which will unite the voice of ophthalmology across the Commonwealth and open new opportunities for each organization.
Key Benefits of this Affiliation
• Increased Membership: This affiliation will bring in several new members, significantly boosting VSEPS’s active membership and strengthening our organization.
• Expanded Voice: By joining forces, we amplify our collective voice and influence on key issues affecting ophthalmology in Virginia.
• Expanded Network: The larger network of ophthalmologists will expand referral networks to assist in excellent patient care, augment professional development opportunities and help ensure every part of the state is engaged in our lobbying and education efforts.
• Stronger Legislative Position: A larger and more united membership empowers us to effectively advocate for our patients and profession in future legislative battles.
• Shared Knowledge and Experience: We learn from each other’s strengths, with VSEPS sharing its expertise in state-level advocacy and education and NVAO offering insights into fostering stronger member engagement and community development.
• Future Opportunities: This affiliation can serve as a model for the creation of future symbiotic local organizations such as regional chapters or subsections of VSEPS, further strengthening our network and local impact.
“We believe this affiliation is a significant step forward for VSEPS, our members, and most importantly our patients, ” said VSEPS President John McAllister, MD. “Everything we do is to better serve our patients. Our formal mission is ‘Promoting eye health and disease prevention for Virginians,’ and when our society is stronger, our patients are much better served.
