CALL for ABSTRACTS 2019 – DEADLINE to Submit is February 20, 2019

Dear VSEPS Fellows, Members and Residents:

The VSEPS Education Fund invites you to attend our 36th Annual Scientific Meeting. Our annual conference, jointly provided by Eastern Virginia Medical School and the Virginia Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons Education Fund (VSEPSEF), will be held at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner, June 14-15, 2019. The Hilton McLean is located at 7920 Jones Branch Dr, McLean, VA 22102. At least 100 ophthalmologists are expected to attend our two-day program. Please save this date and plan to participate in this exciting educational opportunity.

Our annual meetings provide excellent opportunities for fellowship and networking among colleagues. As an attendee, you can learn about the latest developments and trends in ophthalmology and earn CME. We are now calling for presentations and abstracts for original research.
Please complete the form below to submit your abstract. Along with your abstract submission, you will also need to submit by fax (804-261-9891) or email your current CV to VSEPS. You will also need to complete, sign and submit the EVMS Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form. Please click here for a blank copy of this form. Please fax (804-261-9891) or email this completed and signed form to VSEPS as well.

Oral Presentation or Posters Accepted: You have a choice of submitting an abstract for oral presentation or for poster display. All submissions are peer-reviewed. Acceptance of submissions is not guaranteed and depends on the relevance of the topic, topics being specifically addressed at this meeting and the time and space constraints. Depending on the scheduling constraints, you may be offered the opportunity to submit a poster if we are unable to accommodate your oral presentation during this meeting. Posters must not exceed the usable space (3’5” x 7’5”) of the display stands.

Oral Submissions: If selected for oral presentation, the presentation will be integrated into the body of the annual scientific program on Friday and Saturday. Your oral presentation should be of no more than five minutes. As a courtesy to other speakers, time limits will be strictly enforced. Depending on the scheduling constraints, you may be offered the opportunity to submit a poster if we are unable to accommodate your oral presentation during this meeting.

Poster Submissions: You may also submit a poster abstract. Posters must not exceed the usable space (3’5" x 7’5") of the display stands. The first author of each poster is expected to attend the scientific meeting and pay the applicable registration fee. You or your representative must staff your poster during the meals and refreshment breaks to discuss the poster with meeting attendees and answer any questions.

Member-in-Training (Resident) submissions are eligible for awards. The Thomas Frey Award is awarded by VSEPS for the best presentation of original resident research. VSEPS also awards a prize for the outstanding resident poster submission as well. Resident abstracts for oral presentations are nominated by the residents’ respective academic institutions for participation. Any medical student or resident may submit poster abstracts with the approval and sponsorship of his/her resident adviser.

Individuals who are chosen to present either oral presentations or posters must be current members (2019 dues paid) of the Virginia Society of Eye Physicians & Surgeons (VSEPS) and must be registered for the 2019 Annual Meeting. Resident-presenters must be sponsored by a faculty member who is also a current (dues paid) VSEPS member/fellow.
