Dear Colleague:
Let me begin by thanking all our former presidents who have served us since the founding of the VSO in the mid 1980s: Claiborne G. Whitworth, III, M.D.; Kenneth D. Tuck, M.D.; David W. MacMillan, M.D.; Thomas Frey, M.D.; Bruce T. Carter, M.D.; Ira R. Lederman, M.D.; Connell J. Trimber, M.D.; Calvin L. Miller, M.D.; P. Wesley Mullen, M.D.; Garth Stevens, Jr., M.D.; Craig Hensle, M.D.; Richard Morton, M.D.; Joy Dixon Robinson, M.D. At our 2009 Annual Meeting, the membership voted to change our name to the Virginia Society of Eye Physicians & Surgeons, to give the public a better understanding of who we are and what we do.
The current VSEPS Board hopes to further the work of these prior presidents. Over the next year, the Board will continue to present superb annual scientific meetings. We will significantly upgrade our website. We will continue to lobby for our causes. We will expand our membership and our advocacy presence at the AAO’s Mid-Year Forum and in Richmond. We will continue to offer our popular coding courses. Within the next two years, we also hope to establish the Virginia Society of Eye Physicians & Surgeons Foundation. And, we will accomplish the above without increasing dues.
Remember, we do also need your help. We all owe a duty and a debt to the profession that others devoted to teaching us and bestowed to us in good stead. Ask your new colleagues to join the VSO, and please make a contribution to EyePac today.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Kenneth Karlin, MD
President
