About the Virginia Society of Eye Physicians & Surgeons  The Eye M.D.s of Virginia About Our Organization...Creating a Vision for the Future The Virginia Society of Eye Physicians & Surgeons is a statewide, nonprofit organization comprised of medical doctors and doctors of osteopathy whose mission is to advocate for the best quality eye care through education, legislative efforts and community service. The Virginia Society of Eye Physicians & Surgeons' members are committed to heightening public awareness that eye disease and blindness can be reduced through prevention, and early detection and treatment. Member physicians are dedicated to the public’s direct access to ophthalmic care. Originally chartered as the Virginia Society of Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology in 1920, the Virginia Society of Ophthalmology was incorporated in 1983.
